In the first puzzle in MotA of dragon age-2 we can’t pick up the amulet
I solved the puzzle with gates that you come across during the stealth section. Now before I could move on, I opened the gates that lead to the two chests in the room, first on the left and then on right. But when I got to the chest on the right with the Amulet on it, I couldn't pick it up.Similarly, when I reloaded and opened the chest on the right and picked up the Amulet, I now couldn't open up the left chest or pick up the feather.

Even I had the same problem. I think whichever chest you go for first it will work just fine and the second one will be bugged. So what I did was , I opened all the gates to the second chest and then opened the final gate to exit. Once the last gate were opened the chest and quest item were useable again.

You should open the gates to get to both chests, and then should make tallis stand over in front of one chest and hawke to stand in front of the other at the same time and now both chests should be able to be opened.
