Hello friends, I am facing a very strange problem with Mozilla firefox. I have desktop computer which is running on Windows Xp. The desktop computer is connected to an Internet connection which is provided by a Dlink router. The problem is Internet can only be accessed for 20 minutes in Mozilla firefox. After 20 minutes no website can be accessed by using Mozilla firefox. I have never faced such problem and hence need your help to solve it. Is this because of some virus? Please help. Thanks in Advance.

I think there is some problem with the browser which you are using. It is possible that the installed browser which you are using has got corrupt and is creating problems while surfing the Internet. Remove the current installed browser. Remove all the files and the keys associated to the browser from the Windows registry. To edit the Windows Registry, open the registry editor by typing regedit in Run. After all the files and the keys related to the browser are removed, reinstall the browser and see if the problem persist or not.

The router itself may be losing the connectivity to the Internet after sometime. It is possible that the router is creating the problem which you are facing. All the routers work on the algorithm which is a software. Like any other software the algorithm of the router also gets stuck and needs to be reset. Check the status and the link LED on the router when the connectivity is lost. If the router is creating problems then try updating the firmware of the router and then see if the problem continues or not.

The add-ons and the 3rd party applications which are installed on the Mozilla firefox sometimes create problems like the one which you are facing. Remove all the 3rd party applications and the addons which are installed on the Mozilla firefox and then try to surf using the browser. Meanwhile try using some other browsers like Google Chrome or Safari. By using some other browser you will be able to check the root cause of the problem. If the websites dont work after 20 minutes in the different browser then the problem is with the line which you are using else it is the browser.

There is a high possibility that the browser which you are using is infected by some virus. Whenever any application is infected by a virus it does not work properly. Scan the system with an Updated antivirus and then see all the infected files. If there are any infected files, repair or quarantine them. After taking proper action check if the browser works properly or not. If the files which are corrupted are more then you will have to install the browser again. You can also use the online scan facility which is provided by many of the antivirus solutions company.

Mozilla firefox comes with a built in safe mode. Safe mode is the diagnostic mode of the Mozilla firefox browser. It helps in finding what exactly is causing the problem in firefox. In safe mode all the addons and the applications are disabled. Therefore if the addons or the applications are causing the problem then the browser will work properly in safe mode. To start the browser in safe mode. Click on Start Menu and then select Run. Now type "firefox.exe\safemode" in run and hit enter. If the browser does not work properly in Safe mode then you will have to reinstall the browser again.
