Intel has decided to postpone the departure of Lynnfield processors and accompanying chipset, the P55 for August or September. According to the economic situation, it might even Intel is delaying the release of more of these new processors. Initially, these models have been announced for the end of July. This delay was decided to support the manufacturers of motherboards, leaving them with large stocks of motherboards to sell because of reduced demand following the economic crisis.
Lynnfield and P55 were both set to launch by the end of July, but according to the Taiwanese motherboard makers, delays will now almost certainly ensue due to an Intel inventory glut and, surprise, surprise, the credit crunch.
Remember, the Lynnfield are declensions midrange Nehalem and use the LGA-1056 socket. After the release of Intel P55 chipset, the Santa Clara giant will retire chipsets P45 and P43 and slip the other chipsets in the series 4 to the future. Note that the first Havendale ES (engineered sample) will be sent to manufacturers of motherboards in February.
