The first hard drive manufacturer, Seagate, is preparing a fairly significant reform of its warranty policy for some of its hard drives general public.
From January 3 2009, thus reducing the manufacturer of two-year guarantee of its Barracuda 7200 hard drives, DiamondMax, or Momentus 7200 and 5400. In fact, almost the entire range of hard drives from Seagate general public that goes to three-year warranty, only the disks for businesses to remain 5 years.
Note that all customers who bought a Seagate hard drive before 3 January 2009 will benefit from the current conditions of 5-year warranty.
According to Seagate, this change allows the firm to adapt to market conditions. A three-year warranty reflects better the conditions granted by competitors, says the manufacturer.
